Good piece Gary. Just an FYI. The Florida Statute that gives the Governor the ability to declare a state of emergency and therefore exercise various duties like suspending tolls on the turnpike to aid evacuation is grounded in Florida statute 252. Its very short and some say very vague. Others argue it was intended to be vague so the Governor could do what they deemed best in an emergency.

Hat's off to Rick Scott. I thought he did a good job handling Hurricane Matthew. In addition, the changes he and the Florida Legislature made in regards to property insurance have paid off for the state of Florida.
